It all reminds me slightly of Pauline Burbidge's quilts.

Dark Matters...
For my 'Sleuth, spies and lies' brief I decided to look at the objects/artworks from the new Dark Matters exhibition at the Whitworth.
One of the pieces I found most interesting was Daniel Rozin's 'Snow Mirror', mainly because of how it looked, quite ghostly and floaty, and I quite liked it as it included an experience for the viewer, which most were quite surprised at when they stepped in front of it...
Snow Mirror
Generally from the whole exhibition, lots of ideas about
-space
-shadows
-technology
-memory
-light
-dark
-time
-temporality...
Lots to think about!

Little findings...
I have been researching about Annette Messager a little bit more, and I have found out some interesting things, particulary in a Guardian article wrote a few years ago...
'Puts sparrows in bonnets and sabotages soft toys'
'Sorry little bundles of feathers and bones and wind-up clock motors'
'Messager's work can be obvious as well as secretive and strange'

Also, I have been making use of the library, having a little read in my favourite magazine 'Embroidery'.
There was a piece about the textile artist Rosie James, who has created a lovely tapestry, which is on display in Ordsall Hall, Salford, very close to where I will soon be living... worth a visit I think!
