everyday;everywhere

Added to my dishcloths. I really wanted to think about the 'everyday' of textiles, textiles is everywhere, everyday (not just in the studio) so I  wanted to invade the space, to make this point. also thinking, there are no boundaries, and i have made it all my space, or rather place because they belong to me - well its just an idea. It's just a starting point.

I want to go on to creating forms a little bit stranger, thinking about unheimliche again...

Interestingly, the labels that i ripped off had 'everyday' printed on them. handy! so decided to further my point by highlighting the word on every label.

i have also been thinking about more experimenting.

bought some huge white dust sheets, so i am going to experiment with creating forms and putting them in places...

i will be continuing with the dish cloths too, so watch your space...

oh so textiles

This post looks very textilesy -when i say 'i am doing textiles' i am pretty sure this is what people think.

 not what i am aiming for, but i needed to have a little think about what has been going on.

So. Things I am going to continue thinking about...

Colours! metallics and coppers... and just in little strips/graduated/concentrated/or just generally subtle!

also lines, travelling guiding, connecting, space,place etc 

These are successful (the best of an unhappy bunch?!) dye samples. Thinking pinky coppery, and the marks made on the blue ones- dots spots holes lines.

And a few little arrangements.

i have been thinking about creating places in spaces;

invading a space; thinking about boundaries (within a space; of my space); thinking about the everyday of textiles and textiles within a place.

i have also been working on a corded piece. something i am going to continue making, and/or make a really big fat one.

and thinking about the threads and colours.

The scale is something to pick up on.

I have decided, I am not working on anything smaller than A2. 

Possibly a little problematic whilst still sampling in my dyefibre workshop, and also bigger=more fabric=more money. But hey ho, bigger dye samples could be more interesting to see how things look BIG. 

Photo blitz.

I went crazy and dyed everything, and took loads of photos, and changed everything. Trying to bring together a bit about what I have been thinking about and just experimenting.

So, thinking about surfaces, making forms and colours... The colours are not quite right, so hopefully the dye workshop can sort that out for me.

Instead of hanging thread, for no reason (other than just suggesting space and scale) I am going to stop that for the time being, maybe, and instead make cords! And think about the actual surfaces, so using the pintucking again, the tailors tack and cording -for surfaces and hanging... and of course, handstitch and wrapping! Hopefully with hand dyed yarn and what-not.
